John Barritt Consulting has been established to provide information and guidance services on recycled aggregates and related issues to aggregate producers, construction companies and environmental regulators.

John Barritt has been working independently since April 2014.

Recycled aggregates produced from construction and demolition waste, metallurgical slags and combustion ashes total some 60 million tonnes/year meeting 30% of the UK demand for construction aggregates.

Increasing environmental regulation relating to the use of waste in construction, the achievement of ‘end of waste’, and the protection of groundwater from contamination, has resulted in stricter controls on those producing and using recycled aggregates, making it more difficult for these more sustainable resources to compete with aggregates from natural resources.

Brief information on available services can be found on the ‘Services’ page and include training on the October 2013 edition of the Aggregates Quality Protocol
